This 15 page movie guide with handouts is for the film "The Brothers Grimm (2005)". This guide will also work well as a sub plan for your substitute teacher.

★★ Check out the full preview! ★★

PART 1 – Comprehension Questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions will also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.

• 40 questions requiring full sentence answers.

• 30 questions requiring full sentence answers (10 removed from the 40 question set)

• 30 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers

PART 2 – Designing a plan to remove a “monster”. (Creativity)

• Students to imagine they’re part of Will and Jake’s crew. They need to come up with a new elaborate plan to fleece a town. As part of the planning stage, they’ll need to include these details:

1. Make up a local legend they’ll use in the town.

2. Design at least one new contraption they’ll use with the “monster” and how it works.

3. Make a plan of how they’ll defeat the “monster”.

4. A layout of the stage where they’ll defeat the “monster”.

PART 3 – Storyboard and synopsis

• Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to remind them of the sequences.

• Synopsis. Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.

The movie is based on an exaggerated and fictitious portrait of the Brothers Grimm. Jake and Will Grimm travel from village to village pretending to protect townsfolk from enchanted creatures. They are put to the test when they encounter a real magical curse, requiring genuine courage.
