Hoppers Movie Guide and Activities

PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made two sets for differentiation. The multiple-choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.

  • 35 questions requiring full sentence answers.
  • 35 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers.

PART 2 – Storyboard and Hopper profile (creativity)

  • Students to create a 9-scene storyboard, illustrating pivotal events from the movie at the beginning, middle and ending. Each scene should include a short sentence describing the action taking place. Use the movie questions to guide sequencing.
  • Students create a profile of an animal they would like to "hop" into, including a detailed drawing and physical description. They must justify their animal choice and write a short narrative describing their first adventure in that body.

PART 3 – Beaver fact sheet application & creative response

  • Students use the provided Beaver Fact Sheet to complete a side-view drawing, vocabulary matching, written description, and creative diary entry that reinforce key adaptations, behaviors, and vocabulary.

PART 4 – Just for fun word search puzzle.

  • There are 15 words/connected words for students to find in the word search. First, they must unscramble 10 words followed by answering the 5 clues for the rest. Answers included.

The movie is about Mabel, an animal lover who uses technology to "hop" her consciousness into a robotic beaver. Driven by a deep bond with nature, she goes undercover to protect her woodland friends and uncover mysteries within an animal world beyond her imagination.

  • Students reflect on what it means to be a disciple by considering moments of faith and struggle in the movie and creating a symbolic drawing to represent following Jesus.

PART 4 – Word search

  • There are 15 words/connected words for students to find in the word search. First, they must unscramble 10 words followed by answering the 5 clues for the rest. Answers included.

The animated movie is inspired by the book “The Life of Our Lord” by Charles Dickens. It follows the story of Jesus, the promised King, from His birth to His death and resurrection. Through miracles, teachings, sacrifice, and love, students will see how Jesus showed compassion, courage, and complete trust in Almighty God.

Loosely based on the book by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Set during World War I, the movie follows young Sara Crewe, a kind and imaginative girl who is sent to a strict boarding school in New York while her father fights in the war. About the movie

Based on the novel (Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH) by Robert C. O'Brien, the movie follows a field mouse named Mrs. Brisby. Faced with a difficult task of finding a new home due to the farmer's spring plough and the impossibility of moving her very ill son Timothy, Mrs. Brisby seeks aid from an unlikely set of animals and learns of a secret about her late husband.

This is the first movie in the series and follows Harry Potter, who on his 11th Birthday discovers that he is no ordinary boy.   • Students to imagine they are a character living in Halloweentown. Using their creativity, they decide the type of character they'll be, such as a werewolf, ghost, witch etc then draw and write about it following the prompts.
  • Students to imagine they are reporters from Halloweentown and write an article about the time when Kalabar was thwarted trying to convince everyone to become evil and take back the mortal world. To include quotes and a drawing.

The movie is about the Cromwell family and their secret connection to Halloweentown. When grandmother Aggie (who happens to be a witch) arrives to try and get her daughter Gwen's help to save Halloweentown, the children overhear and are suddenly whisked off for an adventure in this strange place where it’s always Halloween.
