Toy Story 3 (2010) - Movie Questions + Activities - Answer Key Included

This worksheet accompanies the movie "Toy Story 3" and aimed primarily at the younger grades.

The first part of this worksheet includes tasks to do before and during the movie:
• First asking the student to draw their favourite toy and write a little bit about it
• Describing characters when they see them in the movie

Followed by 10 comprehension questions in chronological order and multiple choice to be completed after the movie. ☺

The last page is colouring and labelling the picture using the words from the word bank.

This movie is the 3rd Toy Story movie and is about Andy's toys who are accidentally sent to a day care centre. They then attempt to escape and make their way back home.

PART 2 consists of 27 comprehension questions to be answered after the movie. Students are required to make notes to help complete this part. Includes answers
● Additional to add: Ask the students what they believe the motives are of the creators of a movie about homelessness (especially a true story) get them to write a bullet point list. (can be done at the beginning or end of the movie)
This movie is about a musician who developed schizophrenia and became homeless and his encounter with a journalist from the L.A Times who wants to write a story about him.

It is a 1 hour 30 minute test and has 2 sections, listening and reading. It was originally aimed at grade 12 ESL students but can also be useful testing grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 if English is their native language. Have a look at the preview to see if you think it's appropriate. The pack includes:

1 x reading and listening test (12 pages - pdf & docx)
1 x audio for the listening section (mp3 format)
1 x listening section with dialogue for the teacher (8 pages - pdf & docx)

A brief outline of each section is noted below:

Listening Section
In this section of the test, the student will have the chance to show how well they understand spoken English. There are four parts to this section with special directions for each part. (Total 15 multiple choice questions and around 20 minutes long)

● Part I: In this part of the test, the student will hear some dialogues and questions spoken in English. They then choose what the main topic of the conversation is.

● Part II: In this part of the test, the student will hear some incomplete dialogues spoken in English, followed by four responses, also spoken in English. They will then choose what they think the most likely reply will be.

● Part III: In this part of the test, the student will hear some dialogues or monologues spoken in English. They then need to choose a picture that best represents the answer

● Part IV: In this part of the test, the student will hear several monologues. They then need to decide which one would be the best answer to the question heard.

Reading Section
The reading section consists mainly of comprehension questions. Total 15 multiple choice questions. This includes:
● Understanding the main idea of a text.
● Pronouns
● Understanding vocabulary
● Procedure (operating instructions)
● Synonyms

This is an excellent all-round English test that can be used on various levels in ESL and also adapted for any English language grade

PART 1 – Comprehension questions. There are 15 questions altogether. I have made two sets for the higher and lower grades. One set is multiple-choice and the other is long answer and are both in chronological order with answers.

PART 2 – Creativity
• Students to imagine they have magic like Matilda and write how they will use this power to help their friends. Afterwards they draw a picture showing their magic in action.
• Students imagine they are Matilda and write a diary entry for a day when Miss Trunchbull came to their class.
• Students to list 5 books they want to read, and then write what’s interesting about each book and why they want to read it.

This movie is about the story of a wonderful little girl, who happens to be a genius, and her wonderful teacher vs. the worst parents ever and the worst school principal imaginable.


 

 

 


Gulliver's Travels (2010) - Movie Comprehension Questions + Activities - Answer Key Included

This 9 page movie guide accompanies the movie "Gulliver's Travels" There are 3 parts to this product: Comprehension questions, creative writing and a cryptic message.

Part 1 - Questions
This includes 27 comprehension questions from the movie in chronological order. Answers need to be full sentences.

Part 2 – Creativity
1. Students need to write a 100 words or less letter explaining why they should be chosen to go to the Bermuda Triangle for Darcy’s assignment.
2. Students write a diary entry for Gulliver’s first day in Lilliput.
3. Students design and label the robot to be used by General Edward

Part 3 - Puzzle
1. First students need to put 10 events from the movie in the correct order.
2. Following that, the students use those answers to get 10 letters that will go into the code box
3. They can then use those 10 letters in the code box to complete part of the secret message and to work out the sequence. Once they have the sequence they can work out the secret message. I have highlighted the sequence in red in the code box.

This movie is about travel writer Lemuel Gulliver who takes an assignment in Bermuda, but ends up on the island of Lilliput, where it's full of tiny citizens.

For the first part, students need to complete 21 long answer questions which are in chronological order. After this the students then need to describe what they would look like if they were a ‘wild thing’, and also draw a picture.
Part 2 is a just for fun section. The word search has a total 18 words to find. 10 of them are the main characters in the movie, and the other 8 are found by completing the cross word puzzle. Includes an answer sheet.
Adapted from the book by Maurice Sendak, this movie is about a young boy who runs away from home and sails to an island filled with creatures that take him in as their king.
