PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. Answer key included.

  • 14 questions requiring full sentence answers.

PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis

  • Students to draw a 6 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the episode. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the episode questions to help with the sequences.
  • Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the episode.

PART 3 – Class discussion questions. Example answers included.

  • Prior to starting the worksheet you can ask the students what they believe the overall theme to the episode is.
  • Based on the theme “pressure and solace” students to complete four questions individually which can later be discussed and debated as a class.

This episode is about Gart Williams, an Ad agency executive in a high-pressured job who starts to dream about an idyllic town called Willoughby.

  • Students to imagine they have been asked to help make a plan to retrieve Scotty's dad's precious signed ball. Using a rough sketch of the sandlot, students number the steps on the map and write a more detailed description of their plan of action on the next page.

The movie follows the new kid in town Scotty Smalls as he tries to make new friends before summer. Not knowing much about baseball, Scotty is taken under the wing of young baseball prodigy Benny Rodriguez and invited to join the rest of the kids on the sandlot to play baseball for the summer.

  • Students to write about one of the characters following the question prompts as well as drawing a picture of their chosen character.
  • Students to imagine they are reporters for the college newspaper and have heard rumors of Dr. Jones’s recent adventure. Students pretend to have an interview with the professor in order to write a short article which include quotes from the interview and a drawing.

The movie is the 1st instalment of the Indiana Jones movie series and follows famed archaeologist Dr. Jones as he unexpectedly ends up in India, then gets tasked by an impoverished Indian village community of searching for a sacred stone believed to have been stolen by a dark power.

  • Students to imagine they are amateur reporters who visit the baseball field built inside the cornfield and write an article on it. They need to “interview” Ray Kinsella for his story and some of the guests to find out why they decided to visit, then write down important notes from the interviews.
  • Using the notes, students then go on to write an exciting article, which also includes a drawing and quotes from the interviews.

Based on the novel Shoeless Joe by W. P. Kinsella. The movie is about Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella and the quest he follows after hearing a voice in his cornfield say to him "If you build it, he will come".
