This 20 page movie guide with additional activities accompanies the film "Inside Out 2 (2024)".

This guide may also work well as a sub plan for your substitute teacher.

PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.

• 50 questions requiring full sentence answers.
• 30 questions requiring full sentence answers (20 removed from the 50 question set)
• 30 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers.

(Note: the answer to the last question is after the ending credits.)

PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis

• Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
• Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.

PART 3 (1-5) – Characters. Group Work: This task is for groups of 5. (Or could be pair work and completed together)

• Each student will get one of the 5 original emotions from the movie (Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, Sadness) and complete the worksheets which include connecting the emotion to the new ones (Anxiety, Ennui, Envy, Embarrassment)

(6) – Characters

• Students to choose one of the new emotions to write about. Includes describing the look of the emotion, how it connects with any of the other ones, describing a scene from the movie that included chosen emotion, giving an example of how the emotion could be used to have a positive outcome.

PART 4 – Discussion questions

• Pair work. Students to complete 5 questions to discuss as a class.

Following on from the previous movie, Riley has become a teenager and puberty fast approaches. Experiencing a new set of complex emotions, Joy and the others who have been running things so far suddenly find themselves trying to adapt to this unexpected change.
