PART 2 – Essay and storyboards
• Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie of Jen’s journey. To include a brief description for each scene.
• Using their storyboards to help, the students write a more detailed account of Jen’s journey. This can either be done in the 1st or 3rd person view.
PART 3 – Just for fun word search and crossword puzzle (10 questions with the answers being the words to find in the word search) also 5 other words to find. Answer key included
The movie is about a young Gelfling called Jen who must repair the damaged Dark Crystal. The great conjunction of the three suns is near and if Jen is too late, the evil Skeksis will control the crystal forever. PART 2 – Writing including recount
• Students to imagine they're living in a world were books have been banned. They are book lovers but can only hide 5 books in their apartment. They need to write a little bit about each book they choose to hide and outline the reasons why they want to keep those specific books.
• Students to imagine they are firemen and to write a recount of a typical call out. This should include the alarm call, transport to the premises, searching for the books, burning the books, then coming back. Can include any possible obstacles.
Based on the 1951 Ray Bradbury novel of the same name, the movie is about a future totalitarian and oppressive society, where books are forbidden. Enforced by the fire department, whose role it is to burn the books the movie follows the life of a senior fireman named Guy Montag.

Hansen, the movie is about the biopic life of the American astronaut Neil Armstrong and the legendary space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969. It also explores Neil's life leading up to this historic US event.

PART 2 – Creativity and essay writing
• (Students will need a dice) The first section students are to imagine they are part of the community and graduating the next day. After being assigned to their job using the dice, students to write a diary entry about their first day.
• The second section, students are to write about five of the memories Jonas received from the Giver. Example answers are included.
• The third section, students to imagine they are Jonas at the end of the movie arriving at the house in the snowy forest. They need to continue the story of Jonas entering the house and writing about what he finds. An extra page is included at the end of the document if needed.
Based on the 1993 novel by Lois Lowry, the movie is about the story of a perfect world where everyone is happy. When Jonas is 18 years old, he's chosen to be the community's Receiver of Memories. He enters into training with 'The Giver' who imparts memories of the "real" world hidden from the rest of the community. He soon sees his community as fake and immoral and tries to do something about it.
