This guide may also work well as a sub plan for your substitute teacher.
PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order (mainly in present simple form). I have made two sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.
- 20 questions requiring full sentence answers.
- 19 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers (the last question requires a full sentence answer)
PART 2 – Pair work and character writing
- Students to get into pairs and complete 5 short answer questions together. To come together as a class after completion to discuss. (example answers included)
- Students to write about their favorite character following the question prompts as well as drawing a picture of their chosen character.
PART 3 – Storyboard and synopsis
- Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
- Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.
Based on the wonderfully written book by Charlie Mackesy, the short film follows a boy, a mole, a fox and a horse, as they create a beautiful friendship while travelling together in the boy's search for home.
