This guide may also work well as a sub plan for your substitute teacher.
PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.
- 55 questions requiring full sentence answers.
- 40 questions requiring full sentence answers (15 removed from the 55 question set)
- 40 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers
PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis
- Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
- Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.
PART 3 – Creativity and writing
- Students to imagine they work at NASA and have picked up multiple transmissions from one of the 12 explorers sent out searching for habitable planets. Using this imaginary information, students are tasked to draw a map with notes and key of the area around the landing pod, 3 diary entries and a final conclusion on whether the planet shows potential as a new home.
Set in the future where devastating sandstorms ravage earth's crops, the movie follows Cooper, an ex-science engineer and pilot, and a select number of other scientists search for answers in the deepest corners of space. Utilizing a mysterious wormhole, they explore strange new worlds to try and find a home to save the human race.
