★★ Check out the full preview! ★★
This guide may also work well as a sub plan for your substitute teacher.
PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made two sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.
- 30 questions requiring full sentence answers.
- 30 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers.
PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis
- Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
- Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.
PART 3 – Environmental writing and poster creation (could work well in pairs)
- Here the students have to answer 3 questions about environmental damage. The 1st question asks the students to list and detail three forms of man-made pollution and why they are a problem. The 2nd question is about deforestation and the last one is why they think it’s important to protect the environment.
- Students to imagine they are helping Zak make an awareness poster to help protect FernGully. They first design a poster layout with included elements listed, then go on to create the poster on either Letter/A4/A3 paper.
The movie is about the magical inhabitants of a rainforest called FernGully. Following the defeat of a polluting force of destruction called Hexxus, the fairies have been able to live peacefully in the forest. When something unusual captures the interest of a young fairy named Crysta, her curiosity brings her into contact with a human named Zak and a hidden secret.
