This 20 page movie guide with additional activities accompanies the film "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) - Extended Version".

This guide may also work well as a sub plan for your substitute teacher.

PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.

• 70 questions requiring full sentence answers.
• 50 questions requiring full sentence answers (20 removed from the 70 question set)
• 50 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers

PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis

• Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
• Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.

PART 3 – Character writing, crossword and word search

• Students to write about one of the characters following the question prompts and to include a drawing of their chosen character.
• Just for fun/time filler word search and crossword puzzle (10 questions with the answers being the words to find in the word search) also 5 additional words to find. Answer key included.

This is the second movie in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which continues following the journey of Frodo and Sam as they make their way towards Mordor. With Merry and Pippin captured by the orcs in the previous movie, the three friends Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli are hot on their trail to save them. This is rated PG-13, you can get a free parent permission slip here.
