PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.
- 48 questions requiring full sentence answers.

PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis
- Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
- Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.
PART 3 – Creativity
- Students to use their imagination and create a kind of profile page for one of the spirits visiting the bathhouse. Needs to include a drawing, describing it, type of bath had and the customer's review of their experience at the bathhouse.
- Students to imagine they are Chihiro's friend and have been asked to write about her experience at the spirit bathhouse. Students need to include 2 drawings and write about any part of Chihiro's experience that was witnessed in the movie.
Studio Ghibli's most famous work by Hayao Miyazaki. The movie is about a young girl named Chihiro who accidently becomes trapped in a mysterious world. As she navigates this strange realm, she must fend for herself as she encounters strange spirits, assorted creatures and a grumpy sorceress who seeks to prevent her from returning to the human world.
