This 14 page movie guide with additional activity handouts is for the film "Wonka (2023)".

This guide may also work well as a sub plan for your substitute teacher.

PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.

• 40 questions requiring full sentence answers.
• 30 questions requiring full sentence answers (10 removed from the 40 question set)
• 30 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers

PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis

• Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
• Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.

PART 3 – Creativity

• Students to help design a new chocolate which includes naming it, listing the ingredients, describing what it looks like, how it tastes and what happens after eating it.
• Students to imagine they are junior reporters for a newspaper and will need to “pretend” to interview Lofty about the new chocolate. Students then write an exciting article about the new chocolate. (using the details from the previous task)

The movie is about a young Willy Wonka as he dreams of opening up his very own chocolate shop in a city renowned for its exquisite chocolate. Upon arrival Willy soon discovers that his dream won't be so easy to accomplish as the industry is run by a cartel of greedy chocolatiers.
