This 18 page movie guide with additional worksheets and activities accompanies the Tim Burton directed film "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016)".

This guide may also work well as a sub plan for your substitute teacher.
PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.
- 60 questions requiring full sentence answers.
- 45 questions requiring full sentence answers (15 removed from the 60 question set)
- 45 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers.
PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis
- Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
- Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.
PART 3 – Creativity
- A new child has arrived at Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children. Students are tasked with writing a record of the new child. Includes name, original home, age, peculiarity and description, personality and short biography.
- Students to imagine they're junior reporters and need to write an article about what happened at Blackpool pier. Need to include a drawing and quotes from imaginary interviews with local witnesses.
Based on the novel by Ransom Riggs, the movie follows Jake, who after hearing strange fables from his grandpa about peculiar children, decides to investigate if they're true or not. As he delves deeper into the mystery, Jake learns something he wasn’t expecting.
