PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.
- 55 questions requiring full sentence answers.
- 35 questions requiring full sentence answers (20 removed from the 55 question set)
- 35 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers.
PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis
- Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
- Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.
PART 3 – Creative writing
- Students to write imaginary diary entry for each of the following. For Aunt Jet on the day when Gilly and Sally first arrive at the house as children. For Sally on the day Gilly moves out of the family home with her boyfriend. For Gilly on the evening of Halloween when they dressed up as witches.
- Students to imagine they are researching the Owens Family background and stumble upon their Grimoire. They notice an unusual potion inside and decide to make a replica of it. Students need to draw a visual of the potion, what it's for, what it does and the directions on how to make it.
Based on the novel by Alice Hoffman, the movie follows two sisters, Sally and Gillian Owens, who come from a family of witches with a curse that dooms any man they fall in love with to an untimely death. The film blends magic with themes of sisterhood and self-discovery
