PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.

  • 55 questions requiring full sentence answers.
  • 35 questions requiring full sentence answers (20 removed from the 55 question set)
  • 35 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers

PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis

  • Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
  • Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.

PART 3 – Character writing

  • Students to write about one of the characters following the question prompts and to include a drawing of their chosen character.

Based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien, the movie follows a well-mannered Hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who joins a company of Dwarves to reclaim a lost Dwarf Kingdom from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Accompanied also by a wizard named Gandalf, the company embarks on this perilous journey that will take them into the wild treacherous lands of Middle-earth.

About the movie

After struggling to find a job and wanting to make his son proud, Larry Daley takes on the role of a night security guard at the Museum of Natural History. He soon discovers though, that an ancient curse causes the exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc. Based on the children's picture book by Croatian author/illustrator Milan Trenc.

About the Episode

Franklin is a biographical drama miniseries about the United States Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. Based on Stacy Schiff's 2005 book "A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America."

About the movie

Based on the memoir by Mikael Lindnord, the movie follows an American runner and his adventure racing team as they make their way through a 5-day race in the Dominican Republic. During the race they encounter a stray dog who starts to follow them on their adventure.
