PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple-choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.
- 40 questions requiring full sentence answers.
- 30 questions requiring full sentence answers (10 removed from the 40-question set)
- 29 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers + the final question is a full sentence answer.
PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis
- Students to draw a 9-scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
- Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.
PART 3 – Creativity
- Students to imagine they're junior reporters working on an exciting article about Team Broadrail's Dominican Republic race. They need to bullet point important events and construct imaginative quotes from interviewing the team after the race.
- Using the information from the previous section, students to write an exciting article about the adventures of Team Broadrail's race. Include a drawing.
About the movie
Based on the memoir by Mikael Lindnord, the movie follows an American runner and his adventure racing team as they make their way through a 5-day race in the Dominican Republic. During the race they encounter a stray dog who starts to follow them on their adventure.
