PART 1 – Comprehension questions in chronological order. I have made three sets for differentiation. The multiple choice questions may also work well with ESL/ELL students. Answer keys included.
- 40 questions requiring full sentence answers.
- 30 questions requiring full sentence answers (10 removed from the 40 question set)
- 29 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers. Final question requires a full sentence answer.
PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis
- Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.
- Using their storyboards as guides, students to write a synopsis of the movie.
PART 3 – Creativity
- Students to imagine they're junior reporters and need to write an article about what happened at the Museum of Natural History. To include a drawing.
- Students to imagine they work at the museum and are tasked with documenting the arrival of new artifacts. They imagine an unusual one has just arrived and need to write about it following the prompts on the document. Also to include a drawing of the artifact.
About the movie
After struggling to find a job and wanting to make his son proud, Larry Daley takes on the role of a night security guard at the Museum of Natural History. He soon discovers though, that an ancient curse causes the exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc. Based on the children's picture book by Croatian author/illustrator Milan Trenc.
