PRE-VIEWING - Students have 20 minutes to complete this part, which will be followed on with a class discussion and sharing answers. There are 4 questions based around concentration camps, the Nazi Party, the persecution of Jews and about Jews having to wear the yellow badge. Example answers included.
PART 1 – Comprehension questions. I have made two sets of questions depending on how much of a challenge you want to give the students. Answer keys included.
• 55 questions in chronological order.
• 35 questions in chronological order (20 questions removed from the 55 question set)
PART 2 –Discussion questions. Example answers included
• There are 5 long answer higher level questions for the students to complete and later discuss together as a class.
PART 3 – Mini essays
• Students to imagine they are in the position of three people (a Jew hiding in the ghetto, Mrs. Schindler and a German soldier) each with a different experience to share. They are to write their thoughts and feelings about what happened during the day of the ghetto massacre:

Based on the novel Schindler's Ark by Thomas Keneally, the film follows the incredible true story of German businessman Oskar Schindler. Trying to make his fortune during the Second World War by exploiting cheap Jewish labor, Schindler soon realizes the fate of the Jews becomes more and more clear and his motivations soon switch from profit to human sympathy, saving many Jews from the Holocaust.

PART 1 – Comprehension questions. I have made two sets of questions for differentiation or depending on how much of a challenge you want to give the students. Answer keys included
• 55 questions in chronological order.
• 40 questions in chronological order (15 questions removed from the 55 question set)
PART 2 – Essays and Discussion questions
• After watching the movie, pick the brains of your students with these 4 thought provoking questions. Could also be done in pairs and discussed after each question.
• First essay. Students to imagine they are Atticus. The trial has ended and Tom Robinson was found guilty. The students write about their thoughts and feelings, and what they plan to do next. Start from the moment they hear “We find the defendant guilty as charged”
• Second Essay. Students to imagine they are Scout. It’s the evening when Scout and Jem were attacked by Bob Ewell in the woods. They write a short account of the event from the time they both left the school auditorium.
Set in the 1930's, the movie follows Atticus Finch, a lawyer with two young children, Jem and Scout. In a racially divided Alabama town, Atticus defends a black man accused of raping a white woman. Meanwhile, Atticus's children Jem and Scout are intrigued by their neighbors, the Radleys, and the mysterious, seldom-seen Boo Radley in particular. PART 1 – Comprehension Questions. There are 2 sets for the different grade range, or an ESL class. Includes answer keys. Numbered question sets are shown at the top of each sheet.
• 45 questions requiring full sentence answers.
• 30 questions requiring full sentence answers. (15 removed from the 45 question set)
PART 2 – Writing including recount
• Students to imagine they're living in a world were books have been banned. They are book lovers but can only hide 5 books in their apartment. They need to write a little bit about each book they choose to hide and outline the reasons why they want to keep those specific books.
• Students to imagine they are firemen and to write a recount of a typical call out. This should include the alarm call, transport to the premises, searching for the books, burning the books, then coming back. Can include any possible obstacles.
Based on the 1951 Ray Bradbury novel of the same name, the movie is about a future totalitarian and oppressive society, where books are forbidden. Enforced by the fire department, whose role it is to burn the books the movie follows the life of a senior fireman named Guy Montag.
