PART 2 – Storyboard and synopsis

  • Students to draw a 9 scene storyboard of what they believe to be the most important parts in the movie. To include a brief description for each scene. Remind students they can look at the movie questions to help with the sequences.

PART 3 – Character writing and word search

  • Students to choose one of the listed characters (or other choice) from the movie and complete the character profile. Includes describing them, their background, the student likes and dislikes of the character, changing one thing about the character, and describing one scene their character was in that they enjoyed.
  • Word search puzzle with 15 words to find, 5 of which need clues answered beforehand. Answer key included.

Based on the popular game, the movie follows two plumber brothers from Brooklyn who somehow get transported to a magical world. Separated during the journey, they both set off on their own paths to ultimately save the princess and the Mushroom Kingdom from the fire breathing King of Koopas.

  • Students to write a short story about what one or more of the characters decided to do after the Death Star had been destroyed. If they choose more than one character, they need to involve both in the same story.

About the movie: After plans of an Imperial space station are stolen by rebels against the Empire, two droids set off on a mission to keep them safe and ensure they don't end up in the wrong hands. The droids eventually meet Luke Skywalker, a farm boy from Tatooine who suddenly finds himself embroiled in the resistance on their mission to try and help stop the advancements of the Galactic Empire.

PART 3 – Environmental writing and poster creation (could work well in pairs)

  • Here the students have to answer 3 questions about environmental damage. The 1st question asks the students to list and detail three forms of man-made pollution and why they are a problem. The 2nd question is about deforestation and the last one is why they think it’s important to protect the environment.
  • Students to imagine they are helping Zak make an awareness poster to help protect FernGully. They first design a poster layout with included elements listed, then go on to create the poster on either Letter/A4/A3 paper.

The movie is about the magical inhabitants of a rainforest called FernGully. Following the defeat of a polluting force of destruction called Hexxus, the fairies have been able to live peacefully in the forest. When something unusual captures the interest of a young fairy named Crysta, her curiosity brings her into contact with a human named Zak and a hidden secret.

PART 4 – Just for fun (or a time filler)

  • Word search & crossword puzzle (10 questions with the answers being the words to find in the word search) in addition to 5 other words to find in the word search. Answer key included.

The movie is the 4th instalment of the Indiana Jones movie series, and follows Indy on an adventure to unravel the mysteries of a crystal skull and its connection to the ancient city of Akator.

Each word is used only once and students also need to briefly explain why the word chosen fits best with the quote they assigned it to. Includes answers, although students may have slightly different versions.

Adapted from the Book of Exodus, the movie follows the life of Moses from being a prince of Egypt to being chosen by God to deliver the enslaved Hebrews from the cruel oppressive Pharaoh and out of Egypt.

  • Students to imagine they are junior reporters located in Thebes. Students imagine they interview Hercules and Phil who want to tell their story about the final battle with Hades and the Titans. Students write a short article including quotes from the interview and a drawing.

The animated movie follows the life of Hercules. After being stripped of his immortality while still a baby, Hercules endures hardships to try and find his true self and ultimately become a true hero in order to reclaim his position on Mt. Olympus.

PART 3 – Newspaper article writing.

  • Students to imagine they're a junior reporter and looking for an exclusive story. They overheard a conversation about 4 kids accidently getting shrunk. Wanting to find out more, they go and conduct interviews with them about their adventure. With their imaginary interviews the students write a short article which include quotes from the interview as well as a drawing.

The movie is about scientist Wayne Szalinski who invents a shrinking machine which inadvertently shrinks his two kids plus the boys next door. Then, after accidently getting swept up and tossed out with the trash, the kids try to make their way home through the jungle of their own backyard.

They choose one of the four listed names, then draw a picture of that character and complete the questions.
