Labyrinth Movie Guide + Activities | Answer Keys Inc

The movie follows sixteen-year-old Sarah, who after being forced to babysit her brother, angrily wishes for him to be taken away by the Goblin King. As her wish unexpectedly comes true, Sarah is given 13 hours to rescue him from the castle in the Goblin City which is nestled in the middle of a labyrinth.

  • Students to imagine they're a junior reporter and looking for an exclusive story. They overheard a conversation about 4 kids accidently getting shrunk. Wanting to find out more, they go and conduct interviews with them about their adventure. With their imaginary interviews the students write a short article which include quotes from the interview as well as a drawing.

The movie is about scientist Wayne Szalinski who invents a shrinking machine which inadvertently shrinks his two kids plus the boys next door. Then, after accidently getting swept up and tossed out with the trash, the kids try to make their way home through the jungle of their own backyard.

Using this imaginary information, students are tasked to draw a map with notes and key of the area around the landing pod, 3 diary entries and a final conclusion on whether the planet shows potential as a new home.

Set in the future where devastating sandstorms ravage earth's crops, the movie follows Cooper, an ex-science engineer and pilot, and a select number of other scientists search for answers in the deepest corners of space. Utilizing a mysterious wormhole, they explore strange new worlds to try and find a home to save the human race.

  • The task involves the students writing a little bit about one of the Willoughby children in the movie. They choose one of the four listed names, then draw a picture of that character and complete the questions. Students also need to write the name in to the correct box as well as the correct pronouns and possessive pronouns.

Based on the book by Lois Lowry, the movie follows the Willoughby children as they try their very best to get rid of their selfish parents. After sending them off on a dangerous vacation, the children then embark on their own high-flying adventure to find the true meaning of family.

  • Students to draw the route Dorothy took from her arrival to Oz to the Nome King's Mountain. Students then go on to describe the journey based on how they think it might have been for Billina the chicken.

Based on L. Frank Baum's early 20th century Oz novels, mainly The Marvelous Land of Oz (1904) and Ozma of Oz (1907). The movie follows Dorothy, who after being away from Oz for a while finds herself being sent to a special doctor to help her forget. Saved by a mysterious girl, Dorothy is somehow transported back to Oz and a new adventure begins.

Based on the books by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi, the movie follows the adventures of twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace and sister Mallory. After moving into the run-down Spiderwick Estate with their mother they find themselves pulled into an alternate world full of faeries and other magical creatures.

They will need to include the entrance, walking areas, souvenir shop, owl living area and any other important features, and also a key. An area below the design is for any other information student wish to add about the design.
  • Students to design a poster for the opening of the new owl sanctuary. They will start with the poster layout which will include numbered placements:
  1. The name of the sanctuary.
  2. The date of the opening.
  3. At least one picture of an owl.
  4. Special events for the day.
  5. A short paragraph about the owls and the importance of protecting them.

- Once completed students to create the final poster either on Letter / A4 / A3 paper

Based on the novel by Carl Hiaasen, the movie tells the story of young teenager Roy Eberhardt, who stumbles across a population of endangered owls threatened by the construction of a new pancake house. Making friends with two other likeminded kids, the trio make plans to try and stop the construction and save the owls.

Based on the novel by Beverly Clearly, the short movie is about a young boy called Keith who meets a talking mouse named Ralph at a hotel. Ralph takes an immediate liking to Keith's toy motorcycle and likes to ride it making motor noises as he goes.

PART 3 – Character profile for Buck, map drawing and letter writing

  • Students to draw a profile picture of Buck, describe his features and personality, then write what they like and dislike about him.
  • Students to draw an imaginary map of the area where Buck found the cabin. They need to label and mark the map with important features such as the stream, cabin, wolf den, etc. This is followed by writing an imagined letter that John wrote to his estranged wife outlining his experiences of the journey.

Set during the great Klondike Gold Rush, the movie follows the story of a young dog named Buck and his journey to find his real purpose in life. Based on Jack London's 1903 novel of the same name.
